Boring Daily Build

I think I'd probably go negative after delivery lol.

If I can fix a problem cheaper than I can buy a new car, I'm gonna fix it.
If it needs a gas tank, It'll get one. If it needs an engine... it'll probablyyy get one.

A bit about my gas tank.

The exhaust pipe runs above the gas tank.
It's probably oil from the exhaust.

That would make sense....

I wonder how much shipping would cost. There are a few P5s that pop up every once in a while, not rust free, around here but likely better than yours lol.

Do you have any Coparts near you? That might be a good option.
Correction: Really I guess you'd want a Copart not near you so they aren't rusted, and then you could see how much they'd charge to deliver it.

Yeah, it would be the shipping that would be expensive, especially if it has to cross the border.
A texas car would be nice.

I think I'm just going to keep my car and get it oil sprayed every year.
I'm hoping to get another 5 years out of it.

Drove the Mazda to get some “essentials” today.

Do the boots around the Allen bolts get any grease?
Also for the rear do I have to mess with the parking brake to grease the slide pins?

I pack mine with grease, the plastic caps as well.

I don't want any air pockets that could fill up with water and rust the pins.

I'm almost sure that you have to disconnect the P-brake cable from the caliper to swing the caliper up but I'm not positive.

I know I've disconnected mine a whole bunch of times and I wouldn't do it if it wasn't necessary.

I put a screwdriver through the end of the clip to wiggle and pull on it.

This clip?

is it easy enough to get back on?
I know it needs adjusting so can I do that without special tools while I’m in here?

Yea, that's the clip.
Slide a screwdriver through the open holes to pull it off.
It goes back on easier than it comes off.

If your p-brake has too much play in it, sit in your car with the engine off and push the foot brake hard and hold it down.

Then push the button on your p-brake handle and pull the handle about 20-50 times.

That sets the p-brake height and the foot brake height as well.

It also verifies that the self-adjusters are working.

Be careful when you rotate your caliper back on.
Watch that you don't pinch and rip your dust boot.

I was talking about how there is 0 pad left so the backing plate was seized up to the rotor.

What are these things for? One had a fatality.
