Bluetooth call static? Help

New 2020 CX-5 Signature. Most of the calls I make using Bluetooth have a lot of static. Playing music seems to be fine. Surprised by the lack of quality of the calls. Is this normal or what can I do to improve it?

I do not have a similar problem making calls directly from the phone so it is not a cellular service issue.

Have you had any luck fixing this? As I have the same issue in a 2017 CX-5.
