Bearing races?

Are the bearing races atop the strut tower necessary?
They came out during spring install. I didn't put them back.
Beginning to think that's why my springs are turning when turning the wheel.
I'm thinking with those in the strut would spin with wheel turning but not the spring.
Just want confirmation before I tear it all out again. The # on the spring is listed as a Coilover spring on hr web site

So i'm confused, you got NEW strut mounts...? or the strut bearings for 90 bucks.? Didn't I mention to you in your hr thread that your springs are NOT suppose to spin when they are indexed...?? ????

Yes. Thats why I took it all out to see what was up.
When I did the install I followed the write up in the how to and only removed the center bolt atop the strut tower.
When doing this you leave the strut mount attached to the car. Not good.
Attached to that mount is what Mazda calls the bushing wich consists of bearings(inside) and a bump stop(sold seperately of course. Also that bushing is where the top of the spring indexes. When I pulled the strut away/out it split that bushing spilling the bearings. I rounded em up but the tabs inside that hold it together were dry rotted and busted to s***. Any way without thos bearings the whole unit would turn when I turned the wheel.
Here's the bushing minus the bump stop. This is pressed onto the triangle shaped strut mount.http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc404/Schlepperock/4a2433fd.jpg
This is it pulled apart.
