Ok...I need help with storage, and backup now.

I'm running out of space on my NAS device. It's got 2 x 1TB drives in RAID 1 configuration.

In my PC I also have a 1TB "working" drive. This is where I do work on but there are some things on there that haven't been moved over to the NAS as it doesn't fit.

The NAS has pics/vids all the way from 2008. RAW files from 2009 and 2008 have been converted to JPG or DNG to save space. The 2010 and some 2011 stuff stay as is, in case clients come back and ask for something. I chose DNG because they are about 3 or 4 MB smaller than the RAW files and they don't create those stupid XMP files after editing.

I guess I want to know from you guys, how do you store your files? As CR2/NEF or DNG? What do you do once you are done a shoot? What your storage process is like. How you store your pics/vids of client work etc....How long do you keep your files for? How long do you keep the raw files for? What do you do with raw movie files after you're done making the movie, etc.

I keep all of my pictures on my external HD in .cr2 format. That said, I usually go through my photos once a year and parse them down and get rid of a BUNCH. Only the ones I feel like I'll come back to someday or if I have an edited version where I want to keep an original copy around. I'm due for a cleanout, for sure. How feasible would it for you to put individual photo shoots for clients onto a CD-R or DVD-R and then into storage? That way you can keep the shoots organized and pull them out at any time, without sacrificing your digital storage, which can be used for more resent shoots...
