2013~2016 Aftermarket underbody rivets?

Hi All,

I'm looking to purchase some aftermarket underbody splash shield rivets and I was wondering if anyone had any success with ones from Ebay/Amazon? I honestly don't even feel like playing $1.78 - 2.98/for each one, that's just a rip off for ABS plastic.

I replaced one that was lost with one from Dorman & it worked well. I don't have the package now to look up the part number, but just take one of yours to the "Help" lane in your local auto-parts store and you'll find one that will fit.

Here:
I got these, they work well, you get a lot more for the same price,
no need to spend $$$ on panel fasteners, they all pretty much work the same way as long as they are the 8mm diameter type...
just use a flathead screwdriver to pop them and they loosen then use a non-marring fork shape panel tool or pliers to remove the fastener

I purchased a 100 pc set from Amazon since they had prime and the one I bought resembles more the OEM rivets. I may try the one you linked next time if these don't work out but I just installed it on the bottom of the underbody cover and it went in very smoothly.

I tried to use the same rivet on the oil filter/oil drain underbody cover but it didn't seem to fit so I'm not sure what size that would require.

Mazda uses many different kind of plastic push-pin fasteners and rivets, hence too many OEM part numbers which is very confusing. For gen-1 CX-5, the part number for easy-missing plastic push-pin fastener (#12?) for oil filter access panel (#13) is BGV4-56-145, although the description says “Radiator Support Splash Shield Clip - Mazda (BGV4-56-145)”.

In fender liner area they have:

#8: Body C-Pillar Trim Panel Clip - Mazda (p/n: GJ21-68-885B-02)

#11: Splash Shield Rivet - Mazda (p/n: L33X-13-209)

#16: ?

p/n L33X-13-209 OEM plastic rivet is used the most on CX-5

So use Mazda’s part number to search after-market plastic push-pin fasteners and rivets, and most likely you’ll get the right one.

I thought you’d used different after-market plastic rivets for wheel well liners?

Here's the rivets I used from Amazon, it fit perfectly. Replaced the oil filter rivet as well and it fit.

Yep, the GOOACC is the one I used for the wheel well liners and also the oil filter cover. The first link in your post fits the underbody covers. Basically you'll need 2-3 separate types on hand if any of them breaks for the exterior.

For the interior such as the inside of the door trim when you remove the cover, you'll most likely need something like the AUTEX. The AUTEX one could likely work for the fender area also but I never tried it.

Also, I don't recommend buying from Mazda for the rivets, they charge $2-5 per rivet, not even a whole bag of it so it's a scam. Your best bet is to use what I linked or go explore other alternatives.

After finding enough loose plastic push rivets on underbody panels and wheel well liners, I purchased the attached kit from the "big A". The included removal tool works good so no more screwdriver and needle nose pliers. And I found that adding a flat washer of some sort (I used spare 12mm oil drain plug washers from previous cars) under the rivet head makes for a tighter joint. I only used 2 sizes out of the kit so far but I think some of the smaller one's would work for interior plastic panels and elsewhere. Admittedly a small victory but helps eliminate extra trips and high prices for such simple items. Although mentioned above, this GOOACC kit has more sizes and includes the tool.
