Got in the mail that the recall / TSB parts arrived so I performed the following under warranty. Please note that I did not request to perform these, but during the regular service the service manager indicated that Mazda is encouraging service shops to perform them due to Mazda liabilities and crap. Anyway, not a big thing, managed to see the 2009 Mazda6 and after 2hrs I was out :D

Sliding door-latches (that could freeze);
C2Y5-73-300 (latch, door)

Squeaky rear suspension:
C243-28-156C (Bush, Stabi)
BP4-28-012A (Sheet, rub)

And this one, which I know the cause of the damage was a strong wind when opening the door, not really a potential defective part. Regardless I'm so happy the clicking noise is gone...
C235-58-270 (Checker, do)

A recall and a TSB are different. If someone has a copy of a recall for the bushings and the stall please post; just posting that there was a recall doesn't work at the dealer. I presented them with the recall letter for the freezing sliding door latches and they fixed them right away (yesterday Dec 26th 2008), but the TSB's that I printed for the "bushing repair" only applies if your still under warranty, 3yrs or 36,000 miles for most or extended warranty thru Mazda;

Below copied from TSB (This is included in every TSB)
WARRANTY INFORMATION
NOTE: This warranty information applies only to verified customer complaints on vehicles eligible for warranty repair. Refer to the Warranty Wizard for warranty term information.

So, be sure to complain and be sure you do it within the warranty period of your vehicle.

Bushing Repair of approx $540.00 if your outside your warranty.

Yes, that is correct. The only official recalls were for the latches and for the exhaust. The bushings were never recalled, they are purely a TSB. I believe this was clear in the thread title (scratch)

My only comment is that if you have a 2006 Mazda5 you should have a 4yr/50K basic warranty. The basic warranty changed until 2007 to 3yr/36K

coolmazda5, you're right and it did make sense from your initial post..... but I'm at 59,006 miles (putting a lot of miles on the Mazada) which puts me past the 50,000....... I did go in and say something to them at 19,000 miles but they're saying since it's been over a year there is nothing they can do......... but I wanted to say thank you for the info........ it was good to have the recall letter for the sliding door locks...... I noticed they replaced the metal locks with a hard plastic lock.... looks good and works like a charm.......

Again, thanks for the info about the recall and the TSB's.......
dfs.....

Damn, by 9K miles, huh? (sad2)

I dunno if this helps but if mine becomes obnoxious one day I'll just try to lift it at a workshop and then spray some some lithium grease to lubricate them rather than changing them again. It seems that for several folks in the forums the noise has come back anyway.

SQUEAK OR KNOCK NOISE FROM SUSPENSION WHEN PASSING OVER A BUMP

Note:
I've not done anything like it, so I cannot attest it works, but hey, worth trying :D

coolmazda5, I was thinking of buying the extended protection plan..... EPP from Mazada....... the least expensive one they have is $839.00, which would cover me for an extra 48 months up to 100,000 miles, but I want to make sure it will cover the bushing repair.

I looked back thru my visits to Mazada and I believe I went in around 47,000 miles, back in May of this year and "Leonard" at Hall Mazada told me I would have to pay for the parts if I wanted to repair, I didn't check because I thought my warranty was for only 3 yrs or 36,000 miles. I should have checked, I'm going back to talk to Cindy (my service manager) tomorrow and tell her what happened back in May. I didn't think about my visit until I started reading the post in some of the threads and I printed off the originial post from another member of this forum who lives in Va Beach.

I'll let you know how it turns out......

I just discovered this latch problem on my 06 but somehow it wasn't covered under the recall. I can't explain it. What should I do?

Not sure if they can still honor the recall as is out of warranty, but the recall info is below, I'm sure a MAZDA dealer can retrieve it in their system. I see 2 options:

1. Try to find the OEM parts online and replace them yourself
2. Worse comes to worst try to lub the latches with silicone grease, which naturally repels the water. I did that before replacing them and never had trouble.
