With my Mazda 3 2004, I think my air system is broken to always be "open". If its set to 0, there still is air coming through and it changes when I change then temperature. Any ideas on what to do or is it working as intended?

Does this work on Mazda 3 2004 factory? Not sure what model it is. I took it out but it has no indicators. After reading some of the fried stereo stories, I'm abit hesitant because I can't afford a new stereo and have a road trip after this semester ends. This is what I have, I believe
