    2014 CX-5 - Possible suspension clunk

You mean seeing if the engine shifts under throttle? Checking for clarity. I just found that thread about the loose cowl bolts. Wow. Definitely trying that, too. Looks like that member chased the problem all around. Although I've replaced the suspension and many steering components...

    2014 CX-5 - Possible suspension clunk

I did replace both struts at the same time. Replacing the sway bar bushings today. I'm curious if it could be a motor mount. Upon visual inspection, the large one on the passenger side looks like it's intact. I'll need to read about the other ones to see if they are also susceptible to wear...

    2014 CX-5 - Possible suspension clunk

I didn't, but there is no sound coming from that side. I probably will very soon just to do so, and I probably should've just pulled the trigger on all the components all at once. But, hindsight is always 20/20. The popping/clunk also happens when I jack up the passenger side, but does not do...

    Need some advice...Steering wheel shaking

But the thread starter is referring to the 2016 they picked up for their nephew.

    Need some advice...Steering wheel shaking

The bushings were toast on the front right lower control arm of my wife's CX-5. Once I replaced that, the shaking went away in our 2014.

    2014 CX-5 - Possible suspension clunk

Hello all! A few pertinent details -- '14 CX-5 Sport with 6sp MT. It just rolled over 100k miles. Everything has been pretty rock solid. There has been a clunk on the right front for a little while now after my wife ran over something at speed way back when. This clunk happens when...

    2013~2016 Rear shock removal question

Yeah, I was able to get the stud to bottom out, so everything felt fine. It didn't add all that much more time to the overall project. The most time consuming part was lining the bolt back into the lower arm.

    2013~2016 Rear shock removal question

The bottom mount was different from what the manual illustrated. In the manual, there is a bolt holding the lower shock in place, and mine is a nut tightened over a stud to hold the lower eyelet in place. Also, the manual shows that shock can be removed without lowering the lower arm. That was...

    2013~2016 Rear shock removal question

The shock did not look like it was going to come off at all. I did try to compress and wriggle off, and I figured my only option was to remove the stud. Seemed to me like the length of the stud was too long to remove the shock. Perhaps I didn't try long enough before going through the route of...

    2013~2016 Rear shock removal question

Had to remove lower arm, coil spring, and then the nut that held in the shock eyelet in place. Finally, my CX-5 has a stud with a 8mm end that needs to come off before the shock can be fully removed.

    2013~2016 Rear shock removal question

Quick question for the group -- I have a 2014 CX-5. Looked at the repair manual, and it notes that only three nuts need to be removed in order for removal. When I do this, I can't remove the lower eyelet completely from the bolt as the lower arm is in the way. Does the lower arm need to be...

    2014 Rear Shock Mount

Hello Team CX-5. I searched, and I don't think there was a definitive answer I can find. Called a couple of Mazda parts places, and none could either confirm or deny as they didn't have both parts handy to visually compare. It doesn't look like you can buy the rear shock mount on its own for the...

    13-16 Suspension Replacement

My wife's '14 sounds like it has a blown front strut at ~80k miles. Thinking of replacing all four corners. Are most people going with KYB if they're looking for no gain in performance? Are you re-using your old springs, or replacing with OEM/other if staying with stock ride height? Lastly...

    Gas cap warning light

Nice, got an email notification this time around. Replaced cap with new OEM one, and manually reset the code. It hasn't come back on in a couple weeks, so I think I'm good.

    Gas cap warning light

Yes. It was also done about 5k miles ago. Replaced the gaskets, PCV valve and hose attached to it, spark plugs, etc. I'll double check all the hoses. I get the new gas cap in today, and will probably manually reset the code in order to see what happens. Weird, but I don't always get email...
