Steinmetz, German tuner of all things Opel, has set its sites on the new Opel GT with a subtle yet noticeable front end styling package consisting of a honeycomb front grille and two piece front bumper fascia. No changes for the rear of the car except for a new exhaust which replaces the form fitting trapezoidal exhaust tips for more tradition dual tailpipes. Suspensions gets dropped 20mm and a choice of three Steinmetz wheels in 18, 19 and 20 inch are available. The Opel GT debuts this Friday at Essen.

Waaaait a minute, that is a pimped out Saturn Sky (or a Pontiac Solstice, or... ? (scratch)? ;)

That front has a Prosch-ish hint? Nahh, I'm just sleepy today (sleep)...

Art-Car "Phantoms"

You don't see these type of news (and cars) everyday. Just have one of these next to you at 2AM at a traffic light, it should scare the s____ out of you. "What the F..?" :D

Artist William Burge from Houston Texas sits in his art-car "Phantoms" at a presentation prior to the Essen Motor Show 2007 in the city of Essen, Germany, Monday, Nov. 26, 2007. The car is based on a 1968 Volkswagen Beetle and will be shown at the automobile fair in Essen from Dec. 1 to 9, 2007

I'm not sure if any of their cosmetic changes were an improvement. IMO a stock Sky is hard to improve upon visually. An LS2 would really help how it looks under the hood though. :)

You may be right. Too many chrome accents IMO. I would go for a Solstice GXP instead, but now, the Pontiac grill looks awful.

Have you looked at a sky from behind? ugh. Now what'd be crazy (tho I haven't looked at them side by side to see if the body would even flow right) would be a sky nose job w/ a solstice tail end. It's retarded how the solstice front end looks kinda... like it has down syndrome, and the rear of the sky's just blah. Put the 2 good halves together and see what happens lol. photochop anyone?

I have updated my earlier post. I no longer saw the GXP pic so I have linked a new one.

Rear is butt ugly (literally), you are right :D

they said in the post that they've got 18, 19 and 20" wheels available, I'm assuming they did that to easily showcase more than 1 set.

Abt Volkswagen Tiguan SUV

Press Release

Compact extra class - the new Tiguan
The SUV family from the Allgaeu region gets a sleek increment. The new Abt Tiguan is more than the "small" brother of the successful Touareg. The car presents itself very self-contained in technology and form. "With its straight lines and curves at the right place it is a very likeable car," says Hans-Jrgen Abt. The managing director of the successful Allgu-based company is convinced that the Abt Tiguan will become a big hit. Actually the designers from Kempten tailored a body kit for the newcomer which underlines the dynamical car body and the powerful appearance of the many-sided automobile. The single components perfectly harmonize with each other. Front spoiler and front grille accentuate the impish face and let it look considerably more aggressive. Thanks to the fender extensions the Abt Tiguan appears even more brawny, the door strip attachments in the entry area take up the hip bend of the serial car. Rear skirt and rear wing form a suitable rear view of the overall successful car. Both perfectly harmonize with the 4-pipe rear muffler, also optimized in sound for the Diesel so that the self-igniting engine sounds really aggressive and sporty.

Recommendable as perfect completion are the noble wheels from Abt Sportsline. If the owner of a Tiguan decides for the classic AR or the new BR wheel with its expressive, corresponding spokes, is a matter of taste. And so is the size of the wheels, available in 18, 19 and mighty 20 inch. Of course, also complete wheel-tyre sets can be ordered.

But the Abt Tiguan not only looks powerful, its riding qualities authorize it to be a sporty car for all opportunities. No matter which motorization the Tiguan driver chooses, in the Allgu one always gets a significant power increase. This means, the power of the 1.4 TSI will be increased from serial 150 hp (110 kW) to 200 hp (147 kW). And the Turbodiesel with two liters cubic capacity then offers 170 hp (125 kW) instead of 140 hp (103 kW). If more is demanded, Abt Power S with the new Abt Turbo comes into consideration. Then, in the 2.0 TDI (147 kW) engine, 200 Diesel horses come into force, noticeably pushing the car. Thanks to the suspension springs and the adjustable sports suspension from Abt, the Tiguan brings its power onto all lanes and offers a lot of driving pleasure, especially on curvaceous country roads. Due to the fact that such an active car must remain controllable in every situation, the team from Kempten installed the Abt brake system, measuring 345 x 30 millimeters, in their compact SUV.

The latest member of the Kempten SUV family is easily able to get out of the mighty shadows of the Abt Touareg and Abt AS7 because the Abt Tiguan is a compact extra class of its own.

Brabus Mercedes C-Class Wagon

In time for the market introduction of the new Mercedes C-Class wagon BRABUS presents an exclusive sport program. The product lineup for the S 204 model series comprises powerful engine tuning for gasoline and diesel models, an elegant aerodynamic-enhancement program, light-alloy wheels up to 19 inches in diameter with corresponding suspension modifications, and custom interior options.

For the CDI models BRABUS offers its BRABUS PowerXtra kits. They start with the D2 (III) kit that boosts power output of the C 200 CDI by 39 hp (28 hp SAE net) / 28.7 kW and bumps peak torque to 385 Nm (284 lb-ft). BRABUS D3 S tuning in the C 220 CDI model increases power output by an extra 50 hp (49 hp SAE net) / 36.8 kW to 220 hp (217 hp SAE net) / 162 kW. Peak torque is 480 Nm (354 lb-ft).

The top-of-the-line turbodiesel model C 320 CDI adds 48 hp (47 hp SAE net) / 35.3 kW with the D6 (III) power kit. Peak torque grows to 590 Nm (435 lb-ft). Thus equipped, the new V6 wagon turns into one of the liveliest diesels on the market: The sprint from 0 - 100 km/h (62 mph) takes just 6.9 seconds, top speed is 250 km/h (155 mph).

For the gasoline-powered V6 models C 280 and C 350 there is the BRABUS 4.0 displacement engine. Displacement of the V6 engine is increased with the help of a special crankshaft with longer stroke and larger cylinder bore with correspondingly larger pistons. The four-valve heads are optimized for mixture flow and fitted with custom camshafts. Newly programmed engine electronics and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with metal catalysts round out the conversion.

The BRABUS 4.0 engine produces 332 hp (327 hp SAE net) / 244 kW and a peak torque of 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) at 4,200 rpm, giving the five-door excellent performance: The wagon accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, top speed is 275 km/h (171 mph).

The BRABUS stainless-steel quad sport exhaust systems - available custom-tailored to each C-Class model with or without engine tuning - were developed to further improve power yield.

BRABUS stands behind the exceptional quality of all its products including engine tuning with the one-of-a-kind BRABUS Tuning Warranty of three years, up to 100,000 kilometers or 62,000 miles (see BRABUS warranty conditions as of November 2006).

A major contribution to even further improved driving dynamics comes from BRABUS tire/wheel combinations with diameters of 17, 18 and 19 inches and corresponding BRABUS sport suspensions, lowering kits and sport sway bars, all custom-developed for the new wagon. The largest wheel option features BRABUS Monoblock VI, E or S light-alloy wheels in size 8.5Jx19 in front with size 235/35 ZR 19 tires. The rear axle is fitted with size 9.5Jx19 wheels and tires up to size 265/30 ZR 19.

BRABUS high-performance brake systems - available in two versions - offer maximum endurance and stopping power on the level of a sports car.
BRABUS design is synonymous around the globe with sporty elegance. The aerodynamic-enhancement kit for the new C-Class wagon continues this tradition. Custom-tailored components that offer excellent aerodynamic properties and precise fit were developed in the wind tunnel.

The BRABUS front spoiler with four auxiliary headlights lends the Mercedes a more striking front. But that's not all: By reducing aerodynamic lift on the front axle the spoiler also further optimizes directional stability.
The BRABUS rocker panels create an optimal aerodynamic transition between front and rear wheel houses. The rocker panels are optionally available with integrated LED entrance lights that are activated with the keyless fob or by pulling on a door handle. BRABUS also offers custom-tailored covers for the exterior mirrors made from exposed carbon fiber.
The BRABUS components for the rear bumper of the wagon feature cutouts on both sides that frame the two dual tailpipes of the BRABUS sport exhaust system.

Exclusive BRABUS interior design adds value to the new C-Class wagon as well. The product lineup includes an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel, aluminum pedals and a speedometer with 300-km/h dial. In addition there are stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo, and precious-wood and carbon fiber trim sets.

Requests for even more customized interiors are fulfilled by the company-own upholstery shop. The upholsterers create exclusive interiors made from especially soft and breathable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara, perfect down to the last detail.

Press Release

The TECHART Turbo Cabriolet German premiere at the Essen Motor Show 2007
Technology and Art
What is created through passionate precision and with the love of detail emphasises the respect towards an inimitable automobile. Dynamic driving through performance and optimum aerodynamics becomes an experience of the highest art with the TECHART Turbo Cabriolet on the basis of the new Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. TECHART Automobildesign merges technology and art to produce a complete work.
Functionality and aesthetics are two inseparable components at TECHART Automobildesign. The 3.6 litre Boxer engine is modified in many details at TECHART. Two special turbo chargers, carbon suction pipes and made to measure intercoolers contribute equally to TECHART performance enhancement as the sport air filter and the stainless steel exhaust system with special manifolds and high performance catalytic converters. All modifications are perfectly coordinated using the newly programmed engine management.
Following the individualisation, up to 630 hp / 463 kW and a maximum torque of 820 Nm are available. From 0 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 345 km/h, combined with fascinating contours that any enthusiast will immediately notice. The power transmission to all four wheels takes place via a modified six gear manual transmission with TECHART switch path reduction and additional gear oil cooling. Therefore, the cabriolet refined by TECHART is among the fastest super sports cars in the world.
These driving performances place the highest demands in the aerodynamically optimised exterior design. In the wind channel, TECHART developed car body components that lend the TECHART Turbo Cabriolet not only an unmistakable look, but also equally the best possible aerodynamics.
Within this framework, customers can choose between two versions.
The elegant front spoiler of the Aerokit I merges seamlessly with the forms of the bumper and conveys already at first glance pure sportiness. Aerodynamic lateral sills emphasise the stretched side line and lend the flank of the automobile the typical TECHART dynamism. The lowered rear diffuser with additional, lateral air outlets and the entirely redesigned wing profile of the extendable rear spoiler complete the inimitable exterior.
The same applies to the TECHART Aerokit II. The clearly sporty appearance with clear references to the TECHART classic sports car GTstreet cannot be overlooked. Independent Aerokit II front and rear aprons perfect direction of the air masses for an improved inflow of the brakes and the intercooler. At the same time, the buoyant force on the front axle is reduced in connection with the rear spoiler II, while the down force on the rear axle is enhanced additionally.
The electronically adjustable PASM shock absorption system in the new TECHART Turbo Cabriolet is further equipped with the TECHART VarioPlus threaded chassis. This frame not only permits the option of an individually adjustable lowering by up to 25 millimetres, but also the selection of shock absorber settings between normal and sport at the push of a button in the cockpit. But while driving, one is not restricted to these pre-settings. When driving in a sporting fashion, suspension in both levels automatically gets tighter. This achieves the optimum symbiosis between excellent comfort in normal driving and agile, direct handling when driving fast into the curve.
One of the great arts of TECHART Automobildesign is not only in the name of the refiner the individual design work turns the full circle of the performance portfolio and mirrors the philosophy of the company. The finest and highest quality leather hides, the extraordinary attention in the creation and processing of the desired interior and the craftsmanship of the TECHART upholstery shop, matured over years, provide customers with the car created specifically for them with the certain nuance of their personal style.
Technology and Art
Only if crafts tradition, tried and tested technology and passionate precision come together perfectly can works of masterful art be created.
