Ok...is that stock exhaust tip what makes the 3 sound like a weedeater? lol...I kinda like that sound but if i took it off...does that go away...and do i lose anything performance wise? And where can I get a decent Cat-Back Exhaust System that isnt totally riced?

tips don't change sound.....I wish that was the case.(mswerd)

There are tips that change the sound, but you are right the ones on the Mazda3 do not.

you aren't refering to the ones that jcwhitney have that have spring loaded valves for low end tq and open for high end. those do change the sound and rin $50 a piece iirc

I beleve the supertrap ones also deal with that but I have no common ground on that system....

It is just for looks.

I had resonator tips on my T-Bird and it changes the sound slightly, and they were pretty price but so was the custom exhaust.

ok yeah those tips too...the ones we get for sport appearance are just that. $59 a set. anyone use the tips I was talking about on this link? http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/s-10101/p-4365/c-10101
