My custom in TV and center channel install is finally finished. Let me know what you think. I'll take a couple more pics after I clean all the fingerprints off the paint.

Looks real good. Alot better than the earlier "in progress" pictures. Those scared me. Congrats on the finished job, now you can watch porn vs. downloading it LOL.

I love the way the top part w/ the speakers looks.

So you have 8 speakers now? How are you running them? Also, why does the HU stick out instead of flush? Just curious, looks great!

Oh yeah, how did you cover the stock display with the fully solid trip piece, that looks great too..

looks great. btw news flash.. you don't need speakers in the center to have a center channel

thanks for all the compliments

all the speakers except the center chanel are driven by a memphis belle five channel amp, the center is power by the center channel output of the radio. The radio can't sit flush with the dash, because the screen sits flush with the lower part of the radio when it's open. I filled the LCD display opening with abs plastic then molded it in with some duramix and bondo.

I understand that a "phantom" center channel can be created with proper tuning, and speaker placement, but my radio (panasonic cq-vd7700u) actually has dolby DTS 5.1 output, so i did have to have a real center channel.

nice job that looks awesome... (thumb)

so in that headunit does the center channel play only with 5.1 encoded dvd's or does it play all the time, and if so does it send a mono signal during a standard stereo cd? very clean install just wondering how it play for normal standard music, i dont hate center channnel ive just seen more destroy a quality image versus actually enhancing it.

The center channel plays all the time. It doesn't sum the front left and right like most cheaper processors will do. The radio uses dolby prologic to provide a true center channel output when the audio isn't DTS encoded, it ends up with a great center image and a wide soundstage.

It looks really great!!!!

ssinstaller if you did that mounting kit, YOUR GOD jeje. Please let me know any step of if you have any aditional mounting kit to sell. I install 4 mtx double coil woofers, MTX 801 D amplifier and 4 alpine speakers with MTX 564 amplifier, mtx lsx 2crossover, preamp boss, SVR 28-12 600Amp Gel Battery. I'm going to install Kenwood KVT-915 DVD, but i need a mounting kit, I talk with a representative of metra, and they told me that in 3 weeks, the turbo kit is going to be avaible, but that kit of yours is really great. Please also let me know the store that you order the short shifter ans the suspension.

All the custom work looks great, but what puzzles me is your use of the center channel when listening to non 5.1 or better source. That dolby surround processing that creates that center channel sounds way worse than simply running the system in stereo.

Maybe you've done this many times before, and it actually works for you, but I've tried to listen to stereo sources in matrix surround, it it just sucked for me. Stereo was much nicer, with better imaging, and way better overall sound quality. Sure, if the source has the center channel info, than it's great, but that process of creating center channel data has never worked that well imo. I'm sort of a perfectionist when it comes to my music though :)
