One big New England Mazda Family

I have been working in addition to NEPOC, on putting together some sort of loosely organized community consisting of New England area clubs for all mazda models. The purpose is so that if we want to have a community event a couple times a year, it will be much much larger than any single club's event and with size comes the ability to do more things (sponsorships or group rates at places, or renting out facilities, etc) not to mention, IMO the bigger the meets, the better.

Just to clarify, in reality, all this community will be is for example, myself and Kevin the pres of the msters, and the pres of the Mass RX7 club etc. And we will just talk together to decide if we want to hold a joint event and then all clubs will just have their meets at the same time and place together in one big happy disgusting family :) Bottom line here is you dont have to do anything extra or join anything else (thank god :) )all you have to be is a member of NEPOC and you are set.

I wanted to post this here just to keep you guys in the loop and to also get your feedback regarding this 'venture'.

Here is the post I made on mx6.com miata.net mazda6club.com rx7club.com and rx8club.com to try to spread the word (and if you guys know of other area clubs please feel free to spread the word on your own):

here the post..... :)
forum died last night before i could post it

My name is Chris and I am the president of the newly founded New England Mazda Protege Owners Club (NEPOC).

I am very interested in forming some sort of New England Mazda owners community to include all years and models of Mazdas. This would not replace a mx6 club, an rx7 club, or a protege club, but rather, would be more of a title, used to refer to the collective of NEPOC, New England rx8 club, New england Mazda 6 club etc... There are several benefits that I anticipate from such a community....

One of these benefits is the ability to get much greater turnouts at meets and other events. Last fall while planning a protege meet in Worcester, MA we decided to invite other mazda owners as well. It was with short notice but we still had a number of FDs, a couple FCs, a miata, and a probe come out to the meet. It was great to have these other models being represented at our meet and I only wish we had given them more notice so we could have seen even more. I think that the more people that show up for a fun run/meet/cruise/picnic, the better it makes it.

Another benefit is recognition. To have a miata meet with 50 people, a protege meet with 50, a mx6 meet with 20, and a 6 meet with 20 is great, but to be able to have one meet with all 140 would be really great. The bigger the numbers get the easier it could be to take over a drag strip for a night, to get regional Mazda dealerships on board to sponsor the community, or to get some funding from Mazda NA which is looking to sponsor owner events this summer. It could also be a way for regional owners looking to enter their rides in import shows this summer to have a crew to enter with if they arent already a member of a club that does shows.

Again, this is not a club by itself, but rather a group of clubs. No one would be a member of this club, but rather I think the presidents of each New England model specific club should work together to keep it loosely organized. For example is an RX8 meet is happening on a certain date and the RX8 club would like it to really be a big meet for all the area enthusiasts, the President of that club could get in touch with the organizers of all the other Mazda community clubs and basically say "We are having a meet on X, and would like it to be a Mazda meet" Each club organizer then goes back to their club and spreads the word that there will be a big Mazda owners of new england meet on X. That simple. And on the same token, is the RX8 club wants to have a fun run on their own, they do so.

NEPOC is already planning an event in conjunction with Mazda RevItUp at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station on May 22nd and if we can set up this New England Mazda owners community beforehand, we would like this to be the first of such joint meets. The sooner we can get this community organized, if indeed you all would like to do so, the sooner we can talk to Mazda NA about the meet and the scale of it and see if they will be able to help us organize it (by giving us a special parking lot or whatever at the RIU event etc etc..)

So, without further ado, if you are the president/organizer of the New England club or community for your car and are interested or have any questions, shoot me an e-mail at protegeclub@hotmail.com and we can get this thing on the road.

Thanks for your time...sorry for the long post

awesome..get all those sick rx7's and that veilside s2000 to start coming to meets...so i can steal them..or hang out..who am i kidding..steal them.

I don't think they are going to specifically include us in anything...and they probably won't show up to our meets. So if we want to do this, it has to be pro-active. Find out when their meets are going to be held, and ask to join in.

It's been a while since we had a big meet so its not like we are a reckoning force. Westfield was pretty much the climax in NEPOC's history along with the Kent meets but since then I don't think we've had more than a half-dozen members show up to meets.

we def need more meets.. are the 3/6/miata/rx guys afraid of us or somethin? just 'cause we have the FS-DE doesn't mean it's contagious or anything.

You must stay with your own kind now. I'll still hang with ya'll no matter what I drive.

So you guys got excluded because you drove a different type of Mazda? If I read right? Damn what would they have thought if I pulled in with my 2nd gen to a mazda meet.
