The best I have found are on this website: http://midtennmiata.com/headlights.htm#mtr

There are the Hella set, a set that glow in the dark (thumb), some square ones (good looking and the least expensive), and their newest set--ANGEL EYES!!

We have already decided that for our project M1 we are going to get the Angel Eyes. L@@K:

Here are some other pix for those who are too lazy to click the link (not leedhed from their site):

I used to like the low-profile lights, but these are so much more mechanically sensible and beautiful!

Pics work for me. The square ones light output sucks from what I've heard.
If you want light go with the hellas but for looks the angels are pretty nice.
Is that your car? the blue one? How bout the white one? Is that a red one too?

LOL...sorry if I mislead, but none of the cars are mine. My miata is in my sig.

I was answering a request via PM for links to manufacturers' websites for these type of lights. I figured I'd share with everyone. :)

True, but if one hasn't the money, they are a good option. I'd personally save up the extra $$.

I LUV the angel eyes. I can't wait for our 1st gen miata project!

Oh, and here are the ones I'd like for my 10AE miata (in my sig):

Yep. U sure did. :p

Formerly(now at a new home)
'90 White Miata w/ 2 8" Laser Blue stripes
I hate the short nose crankshaft. It took my car away from me.

awww...:(

Yea, it sucked...well still sucks. Kevin should be happy now;) ...he's got her. He's gonna get it in running order and mod it however he would like. Turbo, spec...however. I'm sure he'll keep us updated on how it turns out. It was my first love, it drove like a dream....when it was running. I knew that car inside and out like the back of my hand.

Might want to look around before buying the Mid-Tenns. There have been some folks upset with the quality. Aerodramatics is working on a set that has promise and looks similar.

those r soooo sexy ! argh 400 bucks tho for the round ones...i hope i get a job soon. the miata needs a facelift and repairing

Is he gonna do a motor swap for the later 1.6L or the 1.8L?

What do you think of the Morett M2 conversion set?

She's definately remaining a 1.6L. The engine is sitting in my garage now awaiting a few remaining seals. The new crank is in and ready to go. However, (expendable) money has become rather tight recently considering I'm buying a race suit, attending a school next month to obtain my novice racing license, attending a track day (Road Atlanta), the weekend after that, and "may" be attending my first SCCA IT competition event the weekend of March 6th. But, no dispair! Miata #2 will be running soon (~ 1-2 months, hehe)!

I know how he feels. I had a '96 Ford Escort as my first car. I bought her new with money I'd saved up from working two jobs. Due to poor Ford engineering, she dropped a valve seat and trashed the engine at a mere 72,000 miles (12k miles out of warranty, ARG!!). I can't complain though, I ended up with my P5 (bought Miata #1 with the money I made from selling the Escort (after repairs)). It's hard losing your first car. I spent so much time with her, making sure she was clean, up to date on service, maintenance, etc., etc.). Somewhat seems in vain, heh.

In all her glory:

Ok...back on topic, lol. I would love to have a set of the low profile double round lights on my Miata. However, it'd take me out of ES. I don't particularly care for the square one considering there's nothing boxy about the Miata. Stock light output is sub-par anyway, could it really be that much worse?

(werd)
As bad as it was in the maita...I'd have to say. It's even worse in the protege.
Hmm...maybe one day there will be another miata in the family.

wow...congrats on the move to SCCA IT! I hope that goes well for you! :)

Sorry, don't know the Morett setup.

For those who think the 1990-97 light output is poor, grab a set of decent H4 lights. Best bang for the buck in the lighting world. You can't beat the output or the price.

2001+ cars come with good headlights.

1999-00, well....

Yep. I loved my 01's projectors. I wish someone made projectors for the 99-00. They have issues with "hotspots", even though I clean them monthly to keep them from yellowing.

And I'm too cheap to buy the 01 headlights because you have to buy the 01 fascia to make them fit.

I'm telling ya - apart from the 'looks', my barn-door headlights work AWESOME .... It's hard to beat a 7" reflector. :)

That would be great if the '99+ miatas had a barndoor conversion; it would give it a quasi fd look! :D
