i found a great parts shop that has the storage console found in the MP3. this will make the instalation of a aftermarket single DIN in a MP5.

the part number is BJ1H-66-9M0

the local dealer has it for aboout 99. they had it for under 75.00

Where on that site did you see that listed. When I still worked for the mazda dealer I checked on that and the radio surround, but I think list on the surround was close to 200.00 bucks cause they wouldn't sell it without the radio.

Yeah, I've seen that one. It doesn't really appeal to me because I'd like to be able to either use the orginal blank off plate from the mp3 (I've got three of em sitting im my toolbox) or mount a gauge set under a din radio. Besides the schoce kit is not attracitve at all.

its not listed on their site
i emailed them a few times back and forth till we finally got it right.


i had to get it mine ASAP so i got RAPED by the dealer last night at 110.00
it is just the pocket .

You all ought to check some junkyards - I got my latched pocket (exactly the same as the MP3) off of eBay - but it's from a 99 Protege.

I'm not sure what other years used the covered pocket, but for sure they are junkyards - for a LOT cheaper than the dealers' new ones (and probably cheaper than the $40 I paid on eBay).
