turbo header piping

hey turbo boys, i'm lookin 2 build my own turbo setup. i'm having some valves made now. after that it will be rods and pistons. but i need some help in finding radis pipe 4 the manifold and pipe dia u all used. where would i also find charge pipe also any info on this sure will be helpful. the turbo setups that u all are using what kind of max boost psi #'s. i want at least 20, 4 racing then detune 4 street use. spoolin maybe u want 2 sell 1 of ur manifolds. keep up the psi, will see big #'s from some1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey dude, how much is it costing you to custom make the valves, rods and pistons? I want to go with something very similar to what you are doing and want to build my engine up right so I can go with the higher boost.

As I recall you actually work as a mechanic at a Mazda dealership or something right? I'm not even sure of the work involved in having custom ones made, but I'm assuming whoever makes em needs to see the originals from the engine. I assume you can get your hands on some from a different engine to use as a sample tho...

i called manley today,Rayan quoted me about $316. stainles steel, harded tips, and 1.5mm bigger on the head. hopfuly, he will be calling me back about the valve lock groove. the valves are there, i sent them 2 int & 2 ext to get the deminions 2 make mine. he said about 2 weeks turn@ time. then when they get back i can finish porting my spare head, then on 2 the rods and pistions. i figure about $3000 or so on the long block to handle so serious boost! i will be shooting for 500whp! it is going 2 b expensive!! no telling what is going to tear up along the way. but being a mazda tech labor is free or warrnty.

I seriously doubt you will get to 500whp on a FS block. the most I have ever heard of is 365whp under 18psi of boost. You would have to do a stroker and some real beefy forged internals as well as a custom forged crank plus a Motec engine managment system. RU goign to be racing this thing???? Cause in my mind you would be wasting alot of money on a protege when you could hit that 500whp mark must less with a RX-7 turbo and much easier I might add.

OH yeah back to your question. My setup is non-intercooled runnign 5-6 PSI my runners are made from 1.5" schd. 40 mild steel. Bit on the heavy side but will never crack. The stock crank in the F motor is good for around 400 HP. And our tranny the limit is about the same. If you want 500whp then you are going to need tranny work done too. we aren't just talking clutch we are talking full racing customized tranny. The rods and pistons are basically non-existant. Crower makes some but they are hard to get and expensive. You can machine some escort rods and use teh pistons from a toyota supra and have some machine work done to the crank and have a 2.2L stroker enigne good for 400 HP but thats the only combo I know of. If you could find those components forged and then get a custom crank forged then you might be good for 600hp.

well chdesign, my wife would agree about wasting money, i hear it often. on the real it is a goal! if i reach it going to win some money on the street scene! i would like to know some more info on the 1 with 365, it might be real helpful to me, or have some good ideas for the fourm. as far as internals, customs have been cheaper so far. the crank is going to be a stroker with longer rods for more dwell time on top dead center, the pistons are going to have the top ring move down to give more landing, less chance of melting it. the block will be o ringed studded and some heavy mods on the oiling system to cope with revs. but any ideas or suggestions will be greaty welcomed.

The stroker kit i am goign to do is using 7MGTE pistons 60bucks each through Toyota. Rods from a 89-00 SOHC escort and machine them to the correct width and open the pin hole to fit the supra pin. and then Knife edge my crank .275 and and offset my crank journals .080 and then i have a F block with a 2.2L displacement and good for 400 hp. there is where the 365 whp comes from that combo right there.

u must have done lots of searching to find specs on veriuos parts combos. are u still wanting to know the difference between the 1.8 and 2.0? i can pull the info from manuals or the tech line at work. i am tryin to get the passwords from work so i can axcess service manuals and tech info from home. it is supposedly techincal but we don't use it often at work so we will see.

I'm pretty sure teh only difference in the 1.8L and the 2.0L is the rods. In which case I have no problem. I know that the block is the same. Check on the crank and rod though and see which one is different.
