site is screwy

it's a shame things don't seem to be running as smoothly as it did before the switch to a new isp. it's an even bigger shame when you start something out as a free service just to turn around and start requesting that complainers donate some $ for upgrades. i'm pretty sure antoine didn't start this forum out with hopes of commercializing it and making a profit. for those of you tired of being ragged on for not donating any $ i'd like to invite you to check out http://www.mazda-talk.com . it's not as flashy but i'm sure the 333mhz pII can keep up with the demands. it's a free service and it'll stay that way. don't get me wrong, i think this site rocks but i'm just a little perturbed by all the bitchin about needing donations to buy the latest and greatest equipment just to still have these glitches.

Well first off the admins did not b**** as you put it for money. People were bitching about it starting to run slow from the increase in user base. From there we the other users suggested that they donate money if they want faster equipment. It would surely be appreciated if people donate but it is not REQUIRED.

What problems are you experiancing though? With any upgrade there will be problems, however they are far and few between here.
If so post what is happening so a fix can quickly be made, instead of coming off as being b****y. How ever it seems some people just stomp their feet and go crying off if something doesn't work how they see fit. Gawd reminds me of how customers act at retail stores these days.

The other site is nice yes. Does it have near the features or scope of this site; NO.
Before complaining the site is bad least take a look at the services offered beyond just posting messages.

NO ONE has EVER bitched to me about donating money. This site ROCKS but if you wanna leave, go right ahead.. life will go on without you here.

WHOA! Mazda-talk doesn't have anything on protege5.com. There's no depth to your site, dude.

Also when the site was orginally made they probably had no idea on how it would take off. As such what is the big deal about occasionally giving 5 bucks for information that would have been far more expensive.

Some people just want everything for free or cheaper without taking the time to consider the going on's in the background.

Although some changes here would be nice:
-Going through and deleting old past non-usefull threads.
-Create a FAQ of common questions that would be clickable from the main bar on top
-Ask people to go through and clean out their picture folders, and old IMs if possible.

i was trying to convey that i think the site is getting too commercialized and the original reason for creating the site in the first place was for the love of mazdas and not advertising revenue and donations. imo if they really want to bring in the $ the site needs to get rid of the profanity and stupid pornagraphic avatars and sigs. and as for the other site having no depth...depth schmepth. it'll still be there whether or not you go to it so it's no biggy.

In my opinion this site is like a one stop shop for everything Mazda and then some. Yes, it is all that AND a bag of chips (sorry, couldn't resist). :D I'm not trying to insult your other site but, at this stage, it really does not compare with this one. Again, I agree with REMillers in that I'm sure they weren't expecting the site to blow up as much but I think it has gained a wonderfully eclectic mix of people that make it an enjoyable place to visit. I am also fond of the fact that they DIDN'T automatically insist on a fee for usage; they're busting their asses to provide us with a service we have all come to appreciate. I hope your site blows up as much as this one and that you too will know what having a sucessful site is. Best of luck to you and your site, we should all collaborate instead of playing the I'm-better-than-you game.

instead of playing the I'm-better-than-you game.
But I don't play, I know I am better than you :D If it wasn't for me you wouldn't have your rings or antenna and hat so :p heheh j/k

I agree with REMillers...

I haven't been asked to donate money since I've been a member but i did it anyway...it takes work to keep this site up and it has proven to be very helpful to many mazda owners such as myself...i wouldn't think of going anywhere else...

just my 2 cents...

Silly... I wasn't talking to you. :D And you're right, my car and head are better today since I met you. My deepest gratitude oh keeper of all things ringy and hatty. :p

this site makes NO profit, as a matter of fact, enry puts up some of his OWN money each month.

with that being said, savaho, if you do not like our site, don't surf it, plain and simple.

if getting aftermarket companies interested in our cars is "commercialization", then i guess we have "sold-out"... your theories hold no water, and about the upgrades, with ANY message board upgrade, some kinks need to be straightened out before it is smooth, but as i post this, our manage files area is hella quick, the page load time is almost non-exsistant, and i see a SHITLOAD of members saying how nice it is.

my 3 cents

Listen here...I don't think it's too bad to donate a measley 5 bucks each month for the plethora of information on this website that is made available. Everything you can imagine people will help you with on this site. And what problems are you having? This forum is one of the fastest ive ever belonged to, since the switch. I say commercialize the hell outta the site - more people, more info, more experiences, more opinions, more ideas. As a matter of fact, when I was at the dealer yesterday I dropped off a flyer they put up in the dealership to link to this site. To hell with you if you dont like this forum.
