Injector cleaner...when?

I'm thinking about adding injector cleaner for the first time on my 2002 P5, but need some advice from you pro's out there!!.
I've heard that some people had a negative experience using injector cleaner (the kind you add before filling up the gas tank)...
I am starting to hear a little bit of the "pinging" sound when i accelerate, especially uphill. Would the injector cleaner help this issue. Do you "regularly" add injector cleaner to when you fill up at the station? I'm very new to this and would like to know what to do. Thanks!

i dont think injector cleaner is really necessary for new cars. especially with the detergents and stuff in gas already.

i think we had a thread about the pinging sound a month or 2 ago.
