My New Mazda

Well, new to me. Obviously, it's not a Protege since I'm posting in this area. It is a 1993 MX-3 Precidia GS. It's from Canada, hence the "Precidia" moniker. It also lacks the passive seatbelts of the U.S. '93s, which is a major plus to me. I used to have an almost identical '92 GS until it (well, I) rear-ended an Explorer 2+ years ago. This doesn't mean I won't be buying a MAZDASPEED Protege, but it does mean I can get rid of my 4-door '96 Tercel DX (for sale if anybody's interested...) It was totally reliable and bulletproof but borrrrrring.

I haven't taken my own pics yet, but here are the pics from the auction. Yes, I bought it through eBay. Feel free to call me crazy, but https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned). Some details are after the photos.

Canadian market 1993 MX-3 Precidia GS (Tropical Emerald Metallic)
211xxx km/128xxx miles
Positives:
-HKS intake
-some kind of black dual ~3" outlet muffler, no resonator between cat and muffler - nice and loud :)
-body, seats, engine, transmission, suspension and tires all in excellent condition
-cruise control and sunroof work perfectly
Negatives:
-crappy install of a crappy Sony cassette deck and crappy speakers to be removed soon
-Cupholder Mounted To Center Of Dash(!?) might be screwed in(!!??)
-Driver's Window Won't Lower - motor runs but window won't budge - will remove door panel and investigate soon
-Rear Wiper Does Nothing - could be switch, fuse or motor - also to be investigated
-Center Front Spark Plug Wire Loosens Itself - I can push it back on but it works itself off again and you can hear it arcing - I think the wires are crummy (not NGK/OEM) and the lower seals might have detached - I have to fish them out and try to pull the plugs and check them
-Motor Running Rich at WOT - my brother drove the car back from the dealer so I could observe the short puffs of black smoke at WOT - probably related to the spark plug wire problem
-Valve Cover Seal Leaks - common on these engines - looks like the front one mainly, which is good since it looks like the front is a lot easier to replace than the rear - on my list of things to do

Hey, I can come to Protege meets with an MX-3, right? It's a Protege at heart :).
