As for the Difference?
It will be pretty big between "Just a Filter" and a true "Cold Air Intake" like the MHP.
Here is a pic of just a filter that ran me 35bucks...
And then you have the MHP...
The look is also a big difference.
The sound with Just a Filter will change a little but with a CAI it will be a complete transformation.
I have experinced this before with my old Accord, I first changed the exaust and everything seemed to be same-O same-O...Until I put on my CAI! It just opens up a cars air flow dramaticly!
