1st dumb question of the day

:
Mazda CX-5 Signature
Bought a 2019 CX 5 Signature. Mazda must think everyone can speed read as the book is how shall I say it, enough for me that my life will pass before I finish. I am looking for a VIDEO of all the safety features and how to use them. Is there such an animal. I speaking of the autonomous braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. I think my CX has them but I haven't felt or seen anything except a vibration in the wheel and a yellow line in the hud for lane keeping. Checked Mazda and youtube and didn't find it. Am I missing it? Told you us ole farts would have questions

Hello Dunk,
most of these features are ON by default, but you can definitely toggle them off/on...
few places to look, on the left hand side by the knee are, you will have buttons there for some features, like lane keep assist and traction control.
Most of the features you'll see on the infotainment screen, Go to Settings/ Safety, and you'll see a lot of features there.

Lot of the features are pretty intuitive like blind spot monitoring.
The one that you would need to get used to and play with is the adaptive cruise control which needs to be turned on, switch on the steering wheel.
I love this feature, especially on long drives or heavy traffic.

i would also post this on the CX-5 Lounge..you would get more hits there.

Bruce, thank You. That is pretty much what I spent a lot of time looking for. You did good BUT you could loose the attitude. All of us especially us old farts aren't as efficient as you are, but again Thank You

My neighbor bought a new TOYODA and the dealer had a special hour lecture for all new buyers. He explained all the features and how to use then and was available to answer one-on-one questions after the hour demo. Something MAZDA dealers should do?

Your sales guy as part of delivery should have spent some time to go over the features of the car. My Sales guy spent over an hour running through all the features and how to use them. Even transferred the radio station presets over from the old car.

The above link is also good to get a quick overview of the features.

I thought this was standard practice?(uhm)

My dealer always does the delivery tour / lecture. They have never just handed me the keys at the finance office and said "Good Luck!"

MY dealer did. When we bought our 3 and CX-9, the dealer both spent close to an hour with us going over the features both setting up and how they operated when driving.

Also, for the new Mazda 3, there is no book. Instead, right from the head unit you can access video's on all the car features and settings.

Go to mymazda.com and sign up. It has a wealth of information and videos you are looking for.

Or do what the rest of us do, leave the manual in the bathroom for a few weeks. Jeez, common sense! :D

The Mazda rep actually spent over an hour going over everything on our CX-5. It was more time than the Lexus product specialist spent going over things with us. Both, however said to come back at anytime with any questions we had. Lexus also has a one time free "dealer only" settings change at the 5k mile service. (5k and 10k are free services on Lexus)

Thanks for everyones input. Not trying to be a smart alec BUT I asked ( I am looking for a VIDEO of all the safety features and how to use them. I should have emphasized "how to use them". Indeed my sales person gave me a once over on the car but that did not make me an expert BUT the information in this thread did give me my answer. Not the advertisement from Mazda on what features we have but to go back to my sales person and have him explain the how these work and any idiosyncrasies. Thanks All, be safe!

I think you're over analyzing a bit.

Smart brake support: If you're not paying attention the car will flash a warning at you to brake. If you do not, it will brake for you. This ONLY works if you are not already using the brake.
Blind spot monitors: if there is a car in your blind spot, a triangle will appear in your side mirror. /Edit it's not a triangle, that's the Cherokee I'm currently driving. /
Cross traffic alert: if you are reversing, your car uses radar to look both ways behind where you cannot see. If it beeps at you while doing this, stop. There's a car coming.
The lines in the rearview camera are wider then your car. This is a big help when getting next to a curb.

Some of these things can be configured in settings, for example, for the blind spot monitor you can set it to beep at you when you hit the turn signal and someone is in your blind spot.
I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but I doubt anyone has made a video that specifically goes over that stuff. Much of it is as simple as I've stated here. There's nothing to really be an "expert" about. I get wanting to know it all. But these aren't hidden features. They are all there and working for you.
Go sit in your car and go through every single setting in there. This was the 1st thing I did when I got home. Then I looked in the manual for things I didn't get (and left it in the bathroom). Then I asked here for anything the manual didn't explain clearly.
Do you use the car nav? There are a few tweaks in there I recommend. Don't want to type it out if you don't use it.
