2018 De-badging?

I recall it being discussed that the 2017 CX-5 could NOT be de-badged, because there were holes in the body to accept the badges.

However, I just purchased a 2018 model, and it doesn't seem to be the case.
The "CX-5" badge are separate/individual characters, including the "-".
I can't imagine they put 4 separate holes in the body to mount each character separately.

Does anyone have any real-world knowledge as to whether the "CX-5" and "Skyactive" badges have holes behind them?

i would look at a part breakout of the car and see if the holes are on the diagrams or if the emblems pieces have sticky on the back. Not sure anyone has done it to know for certain.

this is for a 2017, not sure they would change it for 2018. You can see in the bottom boxed picture #10, there are two holes to the left and two holes to the right for the emblems.
