TRS Matchbox Fog Light Retrofit

:
2014 CX-5
I did a quick search and didn't find anything related to this. If you know of any posts, please post the link as I'd love to read some other suggestions!

I already have TRS HID bulbs in the stock halogen projector. I'm not interested in doing a full projector retrofit on the headlights. Already did that on my BMW and for now the light output is good enough, and this is my wife's car so she would never notice the difference anyway.

However I have some purple HID's in the fog light housings but only use them on back roads since they blind anyone coming the opposite direction of me. I'm going to be purchasing some Matchbox projectors from the retro fit source:
https://www.theretrofitsource.com/bi-xenon-morimoto-matchbox-2-394.html

And doing a retrofit to get those projectors into the fog light housings so I can run some HID's in there without blinding people anymore. I saw this post:

Which is basically what I am going to be doing, but with the CX-5 fog lights. My question is, has anyone done this? I doubt I'm the first person to put these mini projectors in the OEM halogen fog lights, so I'd love to see some other people's work. I don't even know if they will fit, but I'm hopeful. I'll make this my project thread and post updates as I go. Right now I'm only in the idea and ordering parts phase.

The biggest problem is, the mounting point, they are offset from each other.
I did something similar, it is working, but it is not centered properly. I did it without trying it out on the car.
The projector, needs a shroud or something to cover the gap, between the plastic and projector. The hole in the plastic, is much bigger and it is oval as well.
Here is something similar, that resembles on what I did. The mounting points, are metal brackets and spacers machined by me.

The projectors already come with a shroud from TRS, they're just not in the pictures. They are also very small projectors.

But my plan isn't to swap out the existing fog light lens (glass halogen lens and reflector) and put a new projector in its place. Instead I'm going to try to do this: Bake open the lens and reflector housing, then open up the hole in the reflector material big enough to stick the back of the projector (where the bulb goes in) through the reflector opening. Use some long bolts and drill 2 new holes to mount the new projector inside the reflector, seal the lens back on with butyl, and then cover up / seal the backside opening so dust and water don't penetrate. If you look at the driveaccord.net post that I posted a link to that's what he did. I'm just hoping the new projectors are small enough to fit inside there. I guess I'll find out!
