Installing a Oil Presure Gauge

I got in a conversation with another poster on installing a oil pressure gauge. I thought I would post what I think I know here so we can get some help.

First, Oil pressure information is not available at the OSB 2 port or anywhere else on our cars. I confirmed this by looking at what the dealer needs to do to check a low oil pressure warning light. They instruct on how to remove the switch and install a portable gauge on a flexible hose. This tells me that the dealer has no other way of getting oil pressure info from the vehicle so we don't either. It wont show up on blue tooth or scangauge or anything else.

That means we need to go to the engine and install a sender and wire it to a gauge (Old school) To find the switch I did the following.

1. go to the address below and download the engine manual.

2. Search oil
This takes us to page 1183 where we see how to attach a temp gauge.
1188 shows the location of the sender switch.
1196 is a closeup of the sender switch.

It looks like installing a sender would consist of

Remove the switch.
Using thread sealant, install a nipple and a T
Install the original switch in the T
Install the sender in the T

Run a new wire from the sender to your gauge.

Has anyone done this? What is the thread for the sender?
Any pointers?

Thanks
