Re-attaching a rear view mirror.

So a few months ago my wife managed to knock off her rearview. I was able to remove the window mounting bracket but I have not been in able to re-attach the mirror to the ball joint. I have tried Vaseline along with brut force and I couldn't get it to work. The arm receiver was slightly bent but not so much that I don't think it should be a major issue in getting them back together. See pic attached.

Thoughts?

Thanks!!

Maybe someone will be willing to sell their old mirror if they have upgraded theirs, I'm sure more then one has and any year will fit.
This things are pressure fitted, when I broke mine, I picked one up cheap.
Maybe you can now upgrade to the self dimming version with home link :)
Or a one with a build-in rear camera view.

The socket looks like it has some plastic. If it is try warming the plastic up with a hair dryer or hot water. Some liquid soap on the ball end might also help.
