MPH for best MPG

:
2014.5 2.5L Touring /w bose
Recently hauled an enclosed trailer on a trip and noticed speed really impacts MPG. The trailer wind resistance really hurts mileage. Reducing speed from 70mph to 65mph increased mileage from 18mpg to 20mpg. that is 10% increase of mileage with just 5mph change.

Makes me wonder what speed does a CX-5 get its best gas mileage?

This has been discussed here. I think the consensus was 45-50. I think you also get an increase in rolling resistance with more speed.

I get my very best MPG in heavy LA freeway traffic.
I can easily get ~45MPG indicated averaging around 30mph or so. Luckily I've never had to do a full tank of gas at that speed...

This guy got 63.7 at 41MPH avg. speed:

This is the MPG at speed for the 6MT:

mph aFCD mpg displayed (average of NB and SB legs) mpgUS Actual (mpgUS)
70 mph 37.8 36.6
65 mph 40.2 38.9
60 mph 43.5 42.1
55 mph 45.9 44.5
50 mph 47.7 46.2

Did a 3k trip over Christmas, between the car being loaded down with gifts and scuba gear, cruising the Interstates at over 70 mph and the crappy winter gas the overall mileage fell to 29.1 Now with around town speeds and summer gas it's going back up :)
