Anyone experience a clunking noise when engaging the parking brakes? Just wanted to know if its okay as Ihave never heard it from any other cars I've driven.

mine started doing it lately, I blame it on the cold and humidity.

for me its when I release and start moving, not engage.
Its not unusual for any car, its just the brake sticking a bit.

I will mention it to the dealer next time, but it started doing it only recently (temps are -20).

its not the first car I have that does this, but it is the loudest. since this is my first awd, i'm thinking that the heat from the rear diff may be part of the "problem"

It's the pads sticking to the rotors. When they are warm they get wet from snow. When you park it the water freezes and the pads become stuck to the rotor. As soon as you release the brakes and try to drive off the bond is broken from the force of the wheel turning and you get a sudden clunk sound. All my vehicles have done this with RWDB.
