2006 Mazda 3 S GT / 2014 Mazda CX-5 AWD GT
Hey all! Just wanted to share our new 2014 CX-5 GT AWD w/Tech. We love it so far and have no issues other than the seemingly common driver's side mirror shake. We recently got the retractable cargo cover for a little more privacy in the back, which is a must have for anyone with a CX-5. Just ordered a Curt Hitch this week and will put it on this weekend. Hitchesdepotusa.com really came through with ridiculously fast and free shipping. I highly recommend the Curt Hitch so far based on the quality of welds and coating on the hitch. My car is the 2006 Mazda3 S, my first Mazda and certainly not my last. I've modified it some, nothing too fancy: Eibach Prokit with Koni Yellow Sports, 18x8 Ultraleggeras with some shoddy Kuhmo Esctas. Anyway this is my first post, so feel free to criticize or compliment.

Super nice pair of Mazda's, welcome to mazdas247!

(lol, not to be critical, just a suggestion) You might consider some light tint on all windows except windshield on the 3 to finish off the look.

Same goes for the CX-5. It was a similar picture of a white one on this forum that convinced me to do the front windows on my sky blue Touring model!

Agreed, 35% tint on front windows works great on CX-5 GT and Tourings with rear factory tint.

Thanks all for the comments, appreciate them! Yes I agree on window tint for both vehicles, probably sometime this year it will happen. Hopefully that will help with the summer heat. One of the main reason on getting the Crystal White with the Sand interior was to hopefully help against the interior getting too hot. The black car with black leather isn't so great in the hot months.

You'll find that the CX-5 is a bit of a heat-sync too with its tall greenhouse and expanse of glass. I probably would not have considered the tint on the front windows if the cabin did not get as warm as it does in bright sunlight. The tint definitely helps keep it cooler.

The biggest factor for moderating interior heat in sunny weather is exterior color, the white should really help. Color of seats in a hardtop vehicle is minor compared to exterior color as long as you keep sunshade on sunroof closed in hot weather.

Congrats. What is your build date? Shocking that the shaking mirror is still an issue with presumably new production

I have a Feb 2013 CX5 Touring I bought in April, what is this mirror shaking people talking about? Is it the side view mirrors?
I don't notice them shake more than any other car, and I only see them vibrate when I'm listening to loud music.

Ditto on my 9/12 build date car.

It's the driver's side mirror that seems to rattle at highway speeds above 50MPH or so. Our CX-5 has a 2/2013 build date. It's not too bad of an issue really, but considering the passenger side mirror is rock solid it doesn't seem to make sense the driver's side would be that different. We've got the hood "shake" as well, but I really don't see that ever being fully fixed on Mazda's part. If you open the hood and check out the cowl near the wiper arms, you'll notice that it has a lot of play with its current design. The hood doesn't really bother me as much as the mirror. Never the less, we are still pleased with our purchase.
 
Hey another Cincy CX-5 owner. You should swap the 'leggras onto the CX-5...you know, just to see what they look like.

Who Dey! If your interested in seeing what it'll look like, check back here sometime this late fall when I swap the OZs with my winter wheels. The OD difference might look silly, but you can at least get an idea of the CX-5 would look like with the wheels on. I noticed your pic, do you autocross with the Cincy SCCA? That's something I've always wanted to check into, just didn't want to show up with my slushbox and get embarassed.
