Ok, so I'm wanting to put the led drl's on my '14 tech package but I'm confused between my options.

There are these - cree style
https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)

And there are these - smd style
https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)

Is one better then the other? I haven't seen many people on here buy the cree type. Is there a reason why?
Hook me up with some info because after google and searching on here I'm not finding an answer to my question.
Thanks!

The CREE unit will be brighter and more reliable than the 68 SMD unit. This is speaking from experience. The CREE unit has less demand due to higher pricing and expectation that "68 SMD LED's" will be brighter than a single digit count amount of CREE LED's, when that is false.

Thanks Pistons.
I was kinda leaning that way but I don't see anyone talking about them.
I am gonna pull the trigger then. Thanks again.

Kind of wish I had done more research regarding these before the SMD style ones. Mine are fine - not very bright, but visible - and haven't burned out like others have complained about. Not yet at least. I would have spent another 10 for Cree style ones if I had known they were available.

I have a question: can I use these bulbs without the Tech Package/Xenon lights?

No, they're different bulbs.
No tech/non-bi-xenon headlights uses the high beam bulbs as DRLs.
Tech package's bulbs are just DRLs, not high beams.

i looked at those, but i remember reading a couple places that those crees only run at full/regular brightness for awhile until they get hot then the output diminishes, so you may want to keep that in mind before dropping the extra cash on them, mine from jdm i believe are pretty good, i had a pair of some super high led count ones and they sucked, so i sent them back (Amazon) and got the jdm ones

I have the SMD lights. I haven't had any problems since I installed them on 11/26/12. They are extremely bright w/ no failures noted. I bought mine from a different eBay seller which included a 1 year warranty.

So which ones from iJDMTOY did you use (I ask because they appear to have some CREE ones on their site: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Chevy-Camaro-High-Power-Fog-Lights-p/p13w-led-fog-light-4w.htm)?

i had a set of ones from amazon like that, with the super high number of elements, but they were all so tiny they hardly put out much light, the ones i got from jdm were significantly brighter

whats funny is the pics they show for installed examples are actually of the ones i bought, that's kimchei's (or badapples cant remember for sure) cx5 i believe and he ordered those ones i linked above first not those 68chip versions

Anyone else find it strange that if you google sylvania H1 or H11, you get lots of hits of name-brand normal replacement bulbs (along with aftermarket), but if you google P13W, all I see are LED aftermarkets, no name-brand normal replacements? I get that my car is new and the DRLs will probably last years before needing replacement, but are P13Ws a Mazda proprietary bulb?

Hard to name any other car that have the P13W bulb other than the newer Highlander fogs, Camaro fogs, and CX-5 DRL.

I'm still waiting to see who's the first one here to install those sweet 15W P13W HIDs in their CX-5. . . .I bet they'll look nice.
