I searched on the forum and couldn't find anyone who put a snowboard rack on a cx-5 yet. Since my cx5 already came with roof rails I ordered a set of "Thule Snowcat - Rooftop Ski and Snowboard Rack - for Factory Roof Racks". From the reviews on other cars and sites, these are pretty highly rated. I didn't have to buy oem cross bars or a set of new rails so this was my best option. Once I receive them and install them ill let everyone know how they are doing. I assume mpg will be affected by 1 or 2 mpg. My s4 had a thule rack on it and it was great for road trips.

got my rack from etrailer with free shipping, no shipping issues everything was good. 2 weekends ago i went from northern va to snowshoe west va and back. the following weekend went from nothern va to philly to camealback ski resort and back. over 1,500 miles later i report that my mpg fell from 28.7 or so to 26.8 which is a big drop. i assume since the setup doesn't have a wind fearing to make the setup more aerodynamic, mpg fell. the rack held up great and had no issues, snowboards stayed on, no rattling or shaking even at high speeds and high cross winds. here are some pics of the car with the rack on it on now

Don't necessarily blame the rack for the drop in mpg. My mpg has dropped by 2mpg with the winter blend fuel. I have no roof rack.

Good to know! Thanks and +1 on the winter blend fuel contributing to dropped mpg's. An added question, "could you fit three boards across the top with these kind of board racks?"

We took out GT AWD to the mountains yesterday and although a great first experience with the weather conditions, we did have to play a little Tetris in fitting three boards, gear, and miscellaneous stuff. Thanks
