iPod Shuffle Mode

Have a CX-5 with Bose 9-speaker system. iPod Touch is connected via USB. Very nice to have the full iPod menu on the car's touchscreen. One thing we'd like to be able to do is shuffle through all music, which we normally do on the iPod by selecting Songs > Shuffle. This will pick random songs across all Albums/Playlists.

There is a 3-way Shuffle button on the car's iPod control screen. Can't remember the labels, but mode 1 is no shuffle, mode 2 has one folder icon, and mode 3 has two folders on the icon. Neither of the shuffle modes will play songs outside of the current album. They both shuffle within the current album/playlist.

Can anyone think of a way to shuffle across all music on the device? Perhaps by creating a signle playlist with ALL songs and shuffle that? Each of my playlists right now are equivalent to individual albums.

Don't know about the touchscreen but on the base cx-5 radio, you can sort by songs and then hit the shuffle all button. Is there a folder or something on the touchscreen that says "artists","albums","playlists", "songs"? If so, pick songs then the shuffle button

The above is correct. You just have to sort by songs intead of a albums or artists.
