I think the answer is no but I want to verify.

Does the US version of the NAV have live traffic?

Per TomTom traffic is RDS-TCM over FM

Yes for main roads and perhaps more widely available. The HD stuff gives secondary roads and is more current but is not in all markets and cost each year to cover the air time over cel radio delivery.

Confirming, I am using the CX5 OE Nav almost every day in California and I get live traffic on it. I thought it was through AM, but I am willing to agree that it's FM. The live traffic info is decent and the estimated arrival times are pretty accurate. If it wasn't for live traffic though, I'd be hating the GPS with a passion. It is so unbelievably slow....

I was tempted to get it just for my commute, not sure if that is enough to make it worthwhile though.
