The other day on a road trip, my wife and I discovered the car was much quieter with the pop-up wind deflector in the down position...Don't want to add the accessory deflector.
Being as it is spring loaded there is an easy fix.

Pick up some sticky Zip tie bases at Lowes etc. (in the electrical dept:

Mount on either side of the car in the spoiler channel:

Tighten ties to keep the spoiler from deploying....Quieter! Noise problem solved...Easily reversible..

Interesting, but does buffeting or wind in cabin at speed increase?

Thanks for tip. Will do (since most are spring-loaded).

My car seems better overall at about 1/2 inch from full extension of the deflector so I will try to ajust to that. It is definitely better, thanks for the tip.

I experimented with it at freeway speeds over the weekend (65-80mph) and now I know why Mazda designed the reflector the way it is, it's the ideal compromise.

Lowering the deflector creates more low pitch/booming noise that's even more annoying.
