Anyone have the remote start, rear backup sensors or tow hitch option?

:
Pearl White AWD GT w/Tech
I plan to order a CX-5 soon but read somewhere that some options like the remote start/backup sensor and tow hitch will be available later in the summer?
is this true or are there folks who have this already installed when they picked up at the dealer?

I don't see the back-up sensors as dealer added yet. It does mention it on the 2nd to last page at the bottom of the brochure, so we shall see.

I had the tow hitch installed this past Saturday, very nice looking hitch because it is barely noticeable. I am not sure what back up sensors you are referring to, all CX5's come standard with a rear view camera to use while backing up. The camera works great day or night. I purchased and installed the window visors over the weekend as well. I need to post some pics.

2 Questions:

1) Can you post a pic?

2) I don't play to ever tow, but I would like to have a receiver that allows me to install a bike rack.
Does the "tow package" essentially come with something as shown below plus a tow hitch?

That and some wiring to connect trailer lights to. Here is Mazda's pic:

I didn't want the wiring connection, just the hitch for a bike rack, it is a little cleaner looking in my opinion. But that picture is better than the one I just took in the dark.

thanks for the pic, were you able to remove the light plus the tow hitch?

and how much was it installed? was it done at the dealership or at the port?

I had it installed at the dealership, I included it in the deal. They gave me a little better price that way, I think it ended up being around $400. The install was much more complicated than they anticipated though. They had to remove some of the exhaust, plus it was the first one they had done. It wasa pretty steep learning curve from the way they talked. My labor charge was only $85 but probably should have been closer to $300 so be aware of that. My dealer took care of me on it. I am not sure what you mean by "remove the light", if you are talking about the wiring connection, yes it is separate from the hitch and you don't have to install both.

The Mazda factory must sure be busy with variances between countries.
Parking sensors aren't optional in Australia. They're fitted in factory to both front and rear on the GT model. Reverse camera is standard on all.

Parking sensors work very well in that they're integrated with the Bose system. The front and rear sound different and operate on different speakers depending on which sensor is picking the proximity.

damn you guys get all the nice stuff plus i noticed theres front headlight washers!!

Washers are required by law for Xenon in nearly every single country the CX-5 is being sent to. So washers are found in Japan, Australia and Europe bound vehicles.
They're excluded from US models simply because it's not required there by law.

You want to fall of the chair?

You get it cheap in the US. So unfair - the US dollar has lost a lot of value during the past 3 years. This should in turn mean expensive imports.
Conversely the Australia dollar was the strongest currency in 2011 - which in turn should mean cheap imports.

All crap.... the size and power of your market means you get it cheap, while we pay a ridiculous $47,000 (all costs included) for the gasoline model & $50,000 for the diesel model.

You'd think we'd be crying about it.... Not really. Mazda is now the highest selling full importer in the country, and the CX-5 is looking to be a massive seller.
In 2011 - the highest selling model was the Mazda 3 - the first foreign car to be in No 1. position in 15 years.

Wow! Is there any government help to balance out the cost, like tax breaks or refunds? For $50k here, you can get a BMW or Mercedes. What's the average income for a middle-class family? A lot of people here don't make that in a year!

Inodes you have to understand the US has 350 million people. They sell an order of magnitude more mazdas in the US than they would in Australia, even if Mazda isnt the best selling car here. So the price is justified by consumption and low import tariffs. If you are cribbing about tariffs, its really upto the australian govt to bring it down, The US has nothing to do with that. They are fundamentally different markets and not comparable.

Are you saying the dealer took 3 hours to install a hitch? Removing, or at least partially dropping, exhaust is pretty standard fare when installing trailer hitches too. I'm not saying they lied to you, but they probably stretched the truth somewhat to make you feel like you were getting a better deal.

You're probably spot on. Can't even remember what tariffs are set to here. But if they ever come down completely, it would be the death of what is a minuscule local car making industry.

Wow that is a bummer! What are the affordable vehicle brands there? Australian made cars only? I couldn't imagine paying that much for a CX-5, even though I love the vehicle.

Also, why should they even imply that you should be feel good that they didn't charge you for their on-the-job training? If anything I would be worried that I was the guinea pig for their first time attempt.

Sorry for the negativity, but I've been burned by such a scenario before. My Chevy minivan with backup sensor was hit from behind and the rear bumper had to be replaced. I should have insisted that the repairs be done at a Chevy shop, but the insurance company sent it to a Ford dealership. Well, when I got the van back, the back up sensor did not work right. I called the shop back up and they had to call in a specialist to do the job. So now I had the inconvenience of having to drop the van off and pick it back up and the uneasy feeling that they let it leave the shop in the first place with the job not done properly.
