Hey I have a Mazda 2 and was wondering whats would you guys recommend for the Mazda 2 turbo wise. What do you think its engine could handle?

Also does anybody know of any good sites with performance parts for the Mazda 2 yet?

Take a look here in the forum. I think Matrixxx has a custom turbo kit on his Mazda 2.

Knight sports Japan has a supercharger kit available for the 1.5 model.Stock motor,0.5bar boost,e-manage and about 160hp.

This a link for the catalogue: http://issuu.com/vinche/docs/knight_sports_2010_catalogue?mode=a_p

There is also a very well prepared Turbo mz2 1.5 in twaiwan from MRS.
This one has also stock motor,td04 turbo,AEM f-ic,fmic and runs everyday @0,5 bar and 150hp.

That is one tiny IC on the turbo kit.

The 4-speed probably won't hold too much torque, but it should be good at low power levels... I know some owners with turbocharged 1.5s (not Mazda2s, but similar), where the tranny holds at about 130-140 whp. Good enough to have fun with in a car this small.

But you DEFINITELY want to add a cooler, and try not to do any torque-braked drag launches with it.

I have the 2011 Mazda 2 Touring Automatic. I know a lot of cars 1.5 auto with turbo. Im just trying to make it more fun to drive. You know new exhaust, headers, etc.

Im not trying to make this into a race car and by all means Im not gonna run this car harder than it can handle.

So I can get a turbo, as long as I do get a intercooler and dont do any torque-braked drag launches.

Dumb question but what is a "torque-braked drag launch?

is there any cheap brand for the turbocharger? i am interested on having one.. but i believe the shipping would kill!

I believe a torque-braked drag launch is when you have an automatic transmission in drive and brake really hard while stepping on the gas and then letting go so you start going with the engine at a higher rpm

Please don't hurt me for asking this -- how much power will the 4 speed auto hold?

I know some guys who have added almost tripple the strength to their trans and driveshafts by having them heat treated. Might be something worth looking into if you are going to try and squeeze as much HP as you can outta the 1.5L

i have an automatic 2 sport. im mainly looking at making my commute a lil more fun.
if i didnt have to deal with houston traffic i wouldve gotten a standard =[

Ha, yeah I went there to visit my family in the summer and I wasn't to thrilled with the constant stop and go traffic, so I know what you mean on that.

How do I go about getting that heat treated? Is it pretty common? I havent heard of it but would like to talk about getting it done.

I would be afraid. If you put a big trans cooler on it it might do ok.

you could pop one of the fog lights out and fit a tranny cooler in that space. and then pop put the other side and put the turbo there.

BOOM. TONS OF RAM AIR. :p

but for real on the first part?

I dream of a engine swap and a rwd conversion just to mess with people...then again I dream of banging chicks in the 89 batmobile. ;P
