First off, I just want to state that this is not a "for sale" thread by any means. With that out of the way...I previously owned a 2005 Mazda3 and purchased a set of reflector overlays from a vendor (southernsurfer) on the MZ3forums a long time ago and it was probably my best purchase for my old 3, ever.

Well, the day I traded in my MZ3 for my Mazda2, I immediately contacted Southernsurfer about fabricating up some overlays for the 2. He was super stoked to make them for me and now that I have mine on my 2, I love them just as much as the ones I had on my 3. Any who, if any of you 2 owners are interested in a set, this thread is really just to gauge interest. If Southernsurfer needs to come on here himself, I'll gladly let him know but any of the mods can definitely check out his credentials. I don't think he's ever had negative feedback on the MZ3forums.

I've posted some pics below of my car so you can see the overlays. I'm not sure what the cost would be but the sets for the Mazda3 are about $15. Any who, post up if your interested and I'll get back with southernsurfer if there's a market for this kind of mod :)

It really depends upon the state or county you live in as far as I understand. I had them on my old 3 for over 3 years with no issues but ill try and get Southernsurfer to get on here to give better feedback on questions and such.

I think its easier to tint the reflectors black instead of build a plastik cover ...

It's not a plastic cover per say, more so a vinyl overlay that you can peel off if needed. It definitely withstands car washes (automatic or by hand) as well as basically any weather you can throw at it. I don't know, after the number of people who have purchased the overlays for their Mazda3's, I thought there would be a nice market for the 2's. I'll wait and see if there's more activity in the thread as time goes on. Thanks for the current feedback though everyone :)

any pictures of what they look like?

Pictures are always nice :)

Quite the compliment to an already good looking vehicle ~ IMO

Weird, I totally thought I had uploaded 2 pictures, sorry about that guys, especially southernsurfer. Those should gain some better feedback :)

Reflectors are an important safety feature. If you do this mod, you better remember to leave your parking lights on if you ever park on the side of a road, so then your car will still have some kind of visibility from a distance -- especially if your state does not use a reflective license plate.

In reference to road visibility, the car does have bright parking lights and even has a third brake light. I, as well as tons of other members, have purchased and used the overlays on my Mazda3 (now on my Mazda2) and had no issues with state law etc. (to my knowledge of course). I implore those who are curious or have questions to check out Southernsurfer's threads on "the other forums". The overlays have been sold to numerous members for over 2 years now.

BTW, I really hope my reply didn't sound harsh by any means as it's not my intent. Having pictures posted up from the start probably would've helped though I guess, lol. I know that in the end, it really comes down to "to each his own", but I definitely love my overlays :)

I like the look. Would the cover had a reflective material option available?

Thanks :) Even though I've never seen Southernsurfer offer an option with reflective material, it's certainly worth an ask. I'll send him a PM to check the thread.

Quite a good question actually, There was a Canadian vendor on M3F that was offering a reflective overlay material. If there is an interest I will do some research.

I'm sure I can locate the product
