How to identify which used CX-9s have the tow prep package?

Hi all,

I am considering replacing my 6 with a CX-9. One of my requirements is the tow prep package. I believe that it became standard with the AWD models in 2009, but I am interested in 2007-8 models as well.

I do not want to assume that a vehicle has the tow prep package just because it has a hitch which could be after market.

I saw one thread that indicated that you can tell if there are two fan control modules. That is not easy to see in a photo of the entire engine compartment (such as on CarMax). Are there other ways to determine if a used CX-9 has this option?

Usually the websites that display the used vehicles have the VIN# also available. Write the VIN# of the CX-9s you are interested in and call any Mazda dealer so they can run it.

I wonder how many times I can do this before they say no.

Nobody said to call your local dealer only...800 numbers are free of charge...LOL!
