I had ordered winter tires/wheels from tirerack a few weeks ago and unwrapped them to install this weekend. Turns out most of the wheel balancing weights had fallen off and were stuck to the cardboard circle that protects the wheel.
I called tirerack and they said it was due to a problem with defective adhesive on the weights and others have been having this issue. They said just take it to any tirerack-certified installation center to get them rebalanced and they will pick up the tab.
Two points to this post:
- as usual good customer service from tirerack, correcting a mistake they made without a second thought
- if you've ordered a new set of wheels/tires from there recently, make sure the weights are all properly attached or else your wheels will be unbalanced (and will vibrate).
