It may be...but the fly in the oinment, I think, is the fact the screen "tips" in different positions. If in fact if it was a software issue..that would be the ultimate..but I think you nailed it, the resolution (and screen itself) just plain blows. One of the reviews I saw on youtube, the guy testing the says "Yikes...is that street sign growing a beard"? and that pretty much sums it up! In spite of some obvious mess ups..I think the pros out weigh the cons.
Maybe if the manufacturer of the screen can be found they offer one in a better quality version but same size.
