I replaced the belts and pulleys but it still does it. should I insist on a compressor replacement?

power steering pump might be a culprit as well, or the tensioner

I noticed that my AC belt says something to the effect of "stretch belt". I guess this is something new that they are trying out? I had never heard of such a thing.

yeah mine still has done it after belt tensioner adjustment, too. I suspect cheap stiff rubber on the belt... but that's no more than speculation on my part.
