CEL and engine studder with 2008 Mazda 5 w/ 1000 miles

Today we were sitting in the parking lot with the car idling for about 10 minutes with the air conditioning on when suddenly the engine started idling very very rough. Its almost light some of the cylinders weren't firing and the car was almost stalling.

Then driving home the Check Engine Light came on and the CEL starting blinking. Stopped the car and started it and still studdering. Feels like the car has no horsepower left.

This is a 2008 Mazda5 GT with about 1,000 miles, does anyone have a clue what this may be?

Thanks!

probably a misfire? Obviously with it being so new, you should take it to the dealer. If you aren't close to a dealer and absolutely need to know now, you could always borrow a scantool from Autozone or other auto parts place, just to see what code you're throwing.

Sounds sucky.

just take it back to the dealer. it should be under warrenty, and the dealer should not charge you a penny to fix it...

should? In most states that car could still be sold as brand new (going off his mileage). Take it back,... now. (poke)
