So, whats the current recommendation for an iPod install on an '07? The one that Mazda provided a year ago looked bad. And it's been a year since I've researched this on the forum. Thinking I'd like to buy one now so checking in to see the thoughts.

we keep thinking about getting an iPod installed too. Or get the tape player and use an MP3 tape player, though I'd rather have something that keeps the iPod charged.

Have you looked here?

look at the bottom of the page. This is to me by far the best solution.

Are you referencing the OEM product (can't tell for sure)? From what I remember from most discussion from a year ago, the OEM product isn't very desireable. If I remember correctly, it doesn't easily allow you to control the iPod itself, and the menu structure is horrible.

fishbob - you did a great job installing that unit.

I can't find a U.S. seller for that unit you got from ebay - several China located sellers though...

I just found a website for a similar unit to yours, but I haven't found a U.S. retailer for it yet.

I have a iRiver FM Transmitter that charges the battery and works fairly well. I end up not using the iPod in the car as the volume levels are inconsistent and it's a pain to use while driving. I'm going to get a decent after market head unit and just use MP3 CDs or memory sticks.
