I purchased my 2008 Mazda5 last week so I had to install my iPod dock. I was planning on using a ProClip but after my purchase but I decided to attach my Dension dock directly to the plastic piece in the center of the radio. I wanted the wire from the dock to be hidden so I decided to route it under the dock then into the plastic piece so it would be hidden and routed into the dash. I have ordred the female mini din 8 pin connector and once I receive it I will complete the installation. I modified the dock to accept my iPod Touch with the case and with the positioning I can rotate it to view videos.
The removal of the radio is a little different in the 2008. I had to remove the center cup holder next to the emergency brake which is attached with clips only. There are two screws that attach the center console to the cover around the shifter then the normal instructions apply.
