I'm Thinking for a Turbo Kit .. But i can't find anyone (dunno)

Hey Qatari CX9.
I'm having the same issue as you in Saudi. just bought the car 2 weeks ago. It's suck since the car has good stock acceleration. I've asked the dealer to remove and they're reluctant to do it. They kept saying it will void the car waranty. I've contacted friend in malaysia if he can solve this issue, and his investigating at the moment. Let me know if you manage to get rid the limiter. By the way, in the Saudi Mazda CX-9 brochure, I've noticed a statement about speed limiter around 156km/h. Damn, should have picked this up before I bought the car...

uh no offense but.... the cx9 is a luxury suv, why would you want it to go fast for? why dont you people get an evo or sti or speed6 instead... matter of fact how about a cayenne s?? and to go 400hp????? theres no aftermarket performance parts for it, and going turbo for the cx9?????????????????????????????? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat... you people are crazy please dont treat it like that man

Hello AtenzaNY62,
Good to see respond and constructive feedback. I've no intention to push 400hp. My young days have pass by. Had enough driving 400hp Subaru WRX STi back home in Brunei. Now, SUV is my game. Not sure about Qatari CX9 wishful plan. All I want to have is my CX-9 with no speed alarm and speed limiter. It's so difficult to get a "specialist" who can get rid this two things. If it was back home, I have friends who can do just for a cup of coffee, hehehe..Anyhow, nice to read your comment. Thanks

i dont know if its all that safe to take an 4500lbs SUV that is high off the ground past 160km (100mph) and most of the time, the speed limiters are governed because of certain limiting factors, such as the speed rating of the tires that you're using, tolerance of the differential/transmission. Most likely the car is capable of going faster, but look into it..... better safe than sorry

FikseRxSeven,
Thanks for the advice. I'm just wondering if this speed limiter has been set for Middle east import CX-9, and not other country! Appreciate to hear from others. Thanks again.

I've been searching through the website and came across a particular CX-9 site. The site mentioned that top speed for CX-9 is 194km/h. So, it seems CX-9 in middle east has been locked to 160km/h. #####

Semrz1 I understand u man. All u want is to dont that speed limiter, as for me, I wouldnt want it either!!!

U know, I really think that 160km/h speed limiter is so dissapointing, that speed aint that fast, this car can go faster. In my manual no where Ive seen any indication of that, so Im hoping I dont have the same issue.

Not because Im gonna be traveling beyond that speed, but to be free of doing it whenever there is the need or the desire. So far I think my top speed has been around 90mph. And it feels like nothing!!

what can we do to open the speed limit ?? =(

I believe a tuner will have to start playing with the software in order to remove the speed limiter. Not sure if there are aftermarket chips for the CX-9 yet (in a non-turbo cars, there are very little gains to be had).

CX9 from the Philippines:

i've driven past 160 Km/hr. to almost 180. was just checking how fast the car can go ...
dunno if the car can still go faster ... it was the driver that was speed-limited :)

Hello everyone.
Qatari CX9: it seems we have to bear a bit longer with the speed limiter.
100$GUY: You are right, I don't need the speed limit. Furthermore, i didn't spend my money to have this nuisance limiter. The most irritating is the damn speed alarm.
CX-901: you have proved CX-9 can go beyond 160km/h. I hope you are not going to speed where there's lot of cars around. If I was in Brunei, I will surely test it's full capability on the highway. But living in Saudi, it's difficult to do speed with too many Kamikaze drivers on the road.

I'm not a fan of top speed on highway but I do love acceleration. Maybe I'm used to drive fast Subaru STi, Silva S14 & Integra in the pass. CX-9 has the acceleration eventhough not like my previous car, but still I can feel the thrill. I'm crossing my finger and hope a chip will be develop for CX-9.

Seems to me some people that posted here think that 160 kmh is blazing fast. Once again it's only 100 mph. I've done faster than that on a snowmobile and here in DC you drive that fast dodging bullets. On a real note, I live in the US and have had my CX-9 to 110 mph driving down the highway. Not sure where the limiter is. I should look it up I guess.

There's an SUV designed for this style of driving..it's called a Porsche Cayenne.

CX9 kicks pretty much basic Porsches ass with (hah) 3,2 V6

Even the revised basic Cayenne with 3.6 has 0-100 km accelaration 8,1 sec. while Cx9 has 8 sec. (headbang)

Hello guys,
Lindyrect, 160kmh may not be blazing fast on open road but with other road users behind or infront of us, i'll go for another opinion. When I was bachelor, 160kmh felt like 80kmh. When driving back home from work, did go 250kmh in previous car and even that felt like 140kmh. If the car could go above 250kmh, surely I'll press the pedal more. So, 110mph is do-able! Thanks for sharing.
