I was thinking of going 225/45/on the stock MS6 rims. Is anyone running this tire ?. Do you think tihs will be better or worse for performance ? The tires im thinkin of running are Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R

I'm running 225/40/18 but I chose those because I have a 1.5" drop. I think the 45's will fit however after looking on TireRack I only see a 225/40/18 for that tire not a 45??

no theres a 45 on tire rack but thanks for the input . I was gonna go for the the 40 but it calls for a 7.5 rim i didnt want to take a chance it wouldt fit.

Hey your right theres no 45 i swear there was yesterday.... figures. My luck is terrible lately.... seeing as I only drove my 06 MS6 for a day and my second gear went out . they are replacing flywheel 2nd gear and all syncros. Car only has 12,500 on it. Looks like I bought some kids TOY !!. Well still think im gonna love it !!! BTW its benn 2 weeks today. They say there making the parts !!

You shouldn't have any issues if you stay with the stock rims or any rim that is 18X7.5. If you go 18X8's you will rub with or with the car being dropped. Of course that is if you stay with the 225's.

So with my Stock rim ! MS6 which is 7inch 50mm offset Rim I can fit 225/40/18 .... and you say they handle good no rubbies >?

Yes, my friend, speed6killer, bought 18X8's and he was rubbing nasty. Even with some fender rolling, still rubbing nasty. It had to be the offset with 225/45's which he has. He went back to the stock rims and dropped the car 1.5"s and has no rubbing what so ever.

That all has to do with off-set. Many 6 owners (not saying it will always work because some cars are different) have run RX-8 wheels (18x8 with a 50mm offset) and 235/45-18 tires without rubbing. There are so many variables to factor in for rims fitting that two of the exact same car could run the same rim set-up and one might rub while the other doesn't. If you want to go 225 I would go with a 18x7.5 with at least a 45 offset (48+ would be better). Putting a 225 on a 7 in rim will make the tire bow in and then you will lose the advantage of going with a 225 in the first place.

I run a 235/40/18 7.5 and it looks like it could have accomodated a 245 no prob, next time:)

Well I want to be sure the 225/40/18 fits on the stock 7inch MS6 rim cause i need to order them and i need them soon. Anyone else have an opinion on this. Tire calculator shows a 2% diff from stock tire to this tire

last winter i ran a 225/40/18 winter tire, and also just bought some new Toyo's for the summer. i decided to go with 225/40/18 with those as well. and they don't rub one bit. very nice footprint too, they handle great

Could you post a pic? I'm shopping for tires as well. I am lowered on Megan Racing springs though. I was looking at 225/45 or 225/40.

You will be fine with w/e size you choose unless you are going to mount on 18 x 8 rims... How many inches is the car dropped?

sorry it took forever 225/40R18's on stock rims (wink)
