Auto dim on Nav

Anyone have the problem with the Nav display not changing background to a dimmer display when display is set to AUTO. My understanding from the manual is that it suppose to change display setting if you headlights come on.
I've been giving voice command "Display night" to change for night time driving.
So far, love the CX9:
