I just purchased by new exel ennios 18x8 (5 x 114.3) 45 offset. They weigh 18-20 lbs (per wheelmax) and set me back exactly $550. I'm looking to find some new tires now. I want bf goodrich g-force KDW2. The problem is they don't make those tires in 215 45R18. My options are 225 40R18 (28 lbs; $167) and 225 45R18 (25 lbs;$176). I would like to go with the 225 45R18 because of the 12 lbs of unsprung weight. Tirerack says the stock MS6 tires are 25 lbs.

My question: Can I go with 225 45R18 on an 8 inch rim with 45 offset? Will I have to roll the fenders? The tire calc says the 225 40R18 is 2.1% too fast and the 225 45R18 is 1.4% too slow. Someone help a brotha out here.

It shouldn't make much difference between 225 40R18 vs 225 45R18, right? I am fine on height I think (stock suspension and springs). I just am not real sure about that extra 5 mm rubbing. hmm.....

I think your wheel height will be fine.

I like those rims, but personally I like to show a little more caliper. The short the skirt the better, IMHO!!!! Nice though!

It's not 5mm taller, it's 22mm taller!

And as far as rubbing, yeah, you'll most likely rub. I have 18x7.5 ET 45 with 225/45/18s and I rub going fast over large bumps or dips. I need to roll my fenders.

If you lower the car you cannot do 18x8 +45. I've got 18x8 +48 and it rubs like crazy with 225/40R18 tires. I rolled the fenders but I fear it will still rub.

Are you serious? I was planning on doing 235/40 on a 18x8 +48. I knew I would have to roll, but "not like crazy".

I'm lowered on AutoEXE springs. You?

Now you have me worried. :(

I've got the Megans. You might be alright but if the suspension compresses and the tire gets close to the fender, +48 with any tire larger than 225 is going to be a struggle.
