First post, and we are this -->| |<-- close to purchasing a 5-sp Touring. Not that it will make a difference on our purchase, but given the close ties with Ford, can anybody confirm if Ford's dealer installed wireless door pad is compatible with the Mazda keyless entry? Is there any other aftermarket door pad that is?

Well anyway, we finally picked up an 07 Touring 5-speed today for $18,300. It was nice being able to walk in qualified for S-plan pricing and not have to dicker over $2500 in markup and the additional discount from MSRP.

I'm going to keep looking for a compatible door pad though.

Yuck those door pads are the ugliest things Car manufacturers ever put on car doors!! Anyway why would you want a door pad when Keyless entry is standard equipement??

Door pads are simply convenient: No more having to go back into the house to unlock the car. No more having to call somebody to retrieve keys locked inside. No more having to carry your keys with you while working out at the gym.

Do you really think people are just hiding out waiting to get the combination when they could simply jimmy the lock or toss a rock through a window? Petty thieves aren't that patient.

Key less entry is a really good idea for anyone, male or female.

With key less entry, you can leave a set of keys, some cash, an escape plan in your car. Even if you are booted out of your home, naked with no ID or your car keys, you can get in your car, and find safety.

Key less entry is actually recommended by many domestic violence shelters as part of an escape plan.

Found this company that sells keypads and remotes, but have no idea if it's compatible. Both horizontal and vertical keypads are available.

Nice find. Thanks for the link!

All we really need is a wireless pad that triggers the locks, but it looks like this could do quite a bit more. Apparently it should integrate with any vehicle with power options using a little wiring know-how. Outputs could be rigged to provide power to the windows and automatically open and close them without having to be in the car or have the ignition turned on.

All we need now is an idea what it costs. Too bad they don't seem to want to sell it directly.
