Has anyone ever changed the alternator in a 6cyl Mazda 6? It looks like a real pain to get out, and I'm just wondering what the easiest way to go is.

From what I see, there's three ways to do it.

1-Pull the rear head off (yeah right)

2-Pull the exhaust, axle, first cat, subframe, and suspension off and get to it from underneath

3-Pull the wheel off, the plastic, and somehow get that axle to seperate and pray that it comes out of hte side.

Any help here?

my bro works at mazda, says its a b****, he drops the subframe alil bit to get enough room...

Double check the alternator output with a multimeter before you go through the hassle of swapping it out.

The stock alternator is fine, but we needed to put a 220A alternator in.
