Has anyone looked into fitting the European roof rails?
Can it even be done?

i haven't seen a 5 with european rails, but isn't that the style that runs from front to back along the sides rather than across in the front and back? The standard 5 rails in America are tall enough that you can open the moonroof with the luggage rack and carrier on. If you put something lower down than that you'll have to position anything you put on it behind the moonroof only, or remember not to try to open it.

The european rails issue was discussed earlier and the conclusion was that there is no way to do them with the roof setup of the NA 5.
