What we really need is a 110V AC outlet like my father-in-law has in his Escape Hybrid 
But I agree... I hate when the 12v outlets shut off with the car. You're more likely to kill the battery running all the other crap (radio/fans/etc) when all you're trying to do is charge your cell phone (lol2)
